This is a series of training programmes to address the learning needs of SMPs’ staff who had received the necessary accounting and auditing technical knowledge, but had no practical auditing experience.

The objective of this series of training programmes is to equip the SMP staff with practical audit knowledge and also serve as a useful refresher for those who wish to update their knowledge and maintain their competence in these areas:

Module A – Audit Planning

  • Understanding the Entity and its Environment
  • Understanding Internal Control
  • Audit Planning and Materiality

Module B – Audit Fieldwork

  • Audit of Revenue
  • Audit of Receivables
  • Audit of Payables
  • Audit of Inventories
  • Audit of Cash and Bank Balances
  • Audit of Property, Plant and Equipment

Module C – Audit Completion

  • Evaluation of Going Concern and Contingent Liabilities
  • Subsequent Events and Written Representations

Module D – Audit Reporting

  • Types of Audit Reports
  • Communication with Those Charged with Governance

After successful completion of the Core Audit Training Programmes, participants will be able to better understand:

  • The overall audit process and requirements, including audit procedures

  • How to conduct a risk based audit

  • How to perform basic audit procedures and understand what is actually required by the audit programmes and when to seek clarification

  • Provide feedback to senior members/partners of the engagement team on matters relevant to the audit
