MIA Confirms One Staff Tested Positive for COVID-19
We wish to inform that a staff member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) was tested positive for COVID-19 on 18 March 2020 based on a preliminary medical test.The staff member made a personal overseas trip from 6 – 16 March 2020. When the staff member returned to KLIA on 16 March, MIA immediately instructed the staff member not to return to the office and arranged the COVID-19 test and to self-isolate for 14 days in line with the MIA’s Additional Guidelines on COVID-19. On 18 March 2020 at about 8.00pm we were informed that the staff member had been tested positive based on the preliminary medical test and referred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further tests. The staff member is currently undergoing further tests at the HKL and we are closely monitoring the staff member’s condition.MIA offices have been closed from 18 – 31 March pursuant to the Government’s Movement Control Order, and all our staff have been instructed to work from home. We are currently communicating with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other relevant authorities regarding further actions required and the need for immediate sanitisation and disinfection of our office premises, if necessary.We ask that if any staff members, Council members, MIA members and stakeholders suspect that they may have COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms including fever, breathing difficulties, cough, sore throat or fatigue, please adhere to the latest guidelines from the MOH and seek medical advice and testing. Please do continue to self-isolate for the wellbeing of the entire community.The COVID-19 crisis is complex and may continue to evolve.
