
Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad
President
Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad was elected by the Council as MIA President on 1 December 2023.
He is currently the Senior Strategic Advisor & Chief Regional Representative for Malaysia and SEA, DDCap Limited.
Dato’ Seri was previously the Senior Managing Director and Regional Head, Islamic Treasury, Treasury and Markets, Group Wholesale Banking, CIMB Group. He was responsible for developing the Islamic Treasury franchise for the CIMB Group regionally including United Kingdom, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Thailand since 2006. In total, he has over 38 years of experience in the banking industry including 19 years’ experience in Group Treasury (conventional & Islamic), corporate (deposits, investment, client solutions), interbank, marketing, fixed income and derivatives, product development and structuring.
Dato’ Seri Dr Zabidi holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and a Bachelor’s in Accounting with Honours from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He recently completed the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at the Sa’id Business School of Oxford University. He is also certified in Sustainable Finance Leaders by University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership.
Dato’ Seri Dr Zabidi is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Malaysian Institute Corporate Public Accountant (MICPA) and the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM). He holds an Associate Qualification of Islamic Finance (AQIF) from the Islamic Banking & Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM). He is also a Chartered Professional of Islamic Finance (CPIF) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance (CIIF).

Saniza Said
Vice President
Saniza Said was elected by the Council as the Vice President on 1 December 2023. Previously she was elected as MIA Council member on 26 September 2022.
She is an Audit Partner of Saniza & Co. Saniza has 26 years of experience in audit, tax audit, tax compliance and business consultancy.
Saniza holds a degree in Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Saniza is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She is also a member of MATA (Persatuan Akauntan Cukai Malaysia), AMCAF (Association of Malay Chartered Accountant Firms) and SUTERA (Persatuan Setiausaha Bumiputra Utara).

G. Shanmugam
CEO
G Shanmugam is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He was appointed on 1 September 2025 having served as Acting CEO since March 2025.
A Chartered Accountant of MIA, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and ASEAN CPA, Mr. G Shan exemplifies the flexibility and agility of the accountancy profession. Since joining MIA in 2007, he has merged his expertise in financial and business management, strategic planning, consulting, training and development in delivering innovative and sustainable value to the Institute and the profession.
Prior to his current role, G Shan served as Executive Director of Strategy and Development, overseeing MIA’s strategy, systems, methods, communications, branding, and continuing professional development.
During his tenure, MIA introduced new approaches to CPD and branding activities. This includes a core strategy of building collaborative value partnerships and programmes and establishing MIA as an award-winning CPD provider that supports all sectors of members while constantly strengthening the Institute’s financial sustainability.
Under his leadership, MIA has won several awards for its contributions towards national human resources development namely the HRDCorp’s Malaysian Human Resources Minister’s Award in 2014 and 2024, the rAWr (Recognising Award-Winning Results) ‘National Conference for Excellence’ Award for the MIA International Accountants Conference, and in 2018, the Conference was certified by the Malaysia Book of Records as the ‘Largest Gathering of Accountants in a Single Event’.
G Shan aspires to further strengthen collaborative leadership across MIA’s diverse stakeholders, with the aim of advancing ethics, governance, sustainability, and digital transformation as key pillars in future-proofing the profession and contributing to sustainable nation-building.
