UPDATES ON SERVICES OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANCY FIRMS: STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOPs)

Following the Institute’s previous update on MITI’s CIMS, Online Reporting form and Standard Operating Procedures, we would like to inform members that Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) has uploaded the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the National Recovery Plan (NRP) Phase 1 and Phase 2 that are applicable for Professional Accountancy Firms. The SOPs, which were uploaded on 26 July 2021, are now available on MKN’s website or the links below:

  1. SOPs for Professional Accountancy Firms under NRP Phase 1
  2. SOPs for Professional Accountancy Firms under NRP Phase 2

Member firms are now allowed to operate physically subject to strict compliance with the SOPs that correspond to the NRP Phases in your respective states and only upon applying for and obtaining approval through MITI’s COVID-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS). Member firms that are operating on a physical basis are also reminded to submit information on the total number of employees working at firm premises via this form. Please note that this form must be filled and submitted only when your firm operates physically.

Member firms in Sabah and Sarawak are urged to be guided by the SOPs where and when necessary or applicable, provided that the related SOPs do not contradict the respective State Government’s Directives.

For enquiries on SOPs, please send an email to smp@mia.org.my.

MIA would like to advise all members to comply with the SOPs and hopes that we will continue to stand strong and work together for the greater good of the community to win this battle against the pandemic. MIA appreciates the Government’s response and initiatives in supporting the accountancy profession, which will facilitate business operations and continuity as well as the wellbeing of the profession.

The Institute will continue to closely monitor the situation, maintain close communication with the relevant authorities and our stakeholders, and notify members of any future developments.

We thank you for your understanding and patience and we hope that everyone will stay safe.
