SME REGISTRATION STATUS SYSTEM BY SME CORPORATION MALAYSIA
Since March 2020, SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) has implemented the SME Status Registration System, which is a new initiative used to verify the SME status of companies or businesses.
This online registration system is dedicated to all business establishments in all economic sectors, and for business establishments that would like to check their status or would like to acquire assistance and incentives targeted specifically for SMEs, which are provided by the Government. This online system will facilitate the SME status verification process by reducing the need to show the companies/businesses’ documents in order to verify the SME status of companies or businesses.
The normal registration to confirm the SME status is free of charge. However, once endorsed with SME Status, you may download the digital certificate upon payment of RM100 with a validity period of two (2) years and subject to renewal. From 1 March 2020 to 31 August 2020, all business establishments can apply for the SME status at zero cost and you will be issued with a one-year Digital SME Status Certificate free of charge, subjected to renewal after the one-year validity period
.Nonetheless, please take note that this application is not compulsory for businesses that wish to seek for the Government’s assistance and incentives. It only serves as one of the means to validate the status of all business establishments that fulfill the SME definition as per SME Corp’s definition.
