As part of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) continuous effort to promote and emphasise the current role of Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) especially in sustaining and promoting growth in their respective organisations and in various sectors of industries, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) today announced the organising of the Accountants in Business (AIB) Symposium 2012. The two-day symposium which targets professional accountants in business and commerce is scheduled to be held from 21- 22 March at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Elaborating about the symposium, MIA President Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad indicated that the initiative would provide an avenue for PAIB who are also captains in the industry to strategise and plan ahead in sustaining and promoting growth in their respective organisations.
“Since the profession is the vanguard of convergence and sustainability, PAIB will be responsible for driving these issues and making them relevant to their organisations. It cannot be denied that the role of accountants has moved irrevocably beyond pure finance; accountants are expected to be advocates of sound business practice, champions of sustainable development, and identifiers and managers of risk and value,” said the President.
He also added that since MIA is a proactive partner in the nation building agenda, PAIB are indeed the agents of transformation in many corporate organisations that operate regionally and globally. These accountants are exponents in their respective organisations who are involved with the decision making process through support, planning, regulatory control and value creators. With that in mind, MIA made a conscious decision to organise the AIB 2012 Symposium as a platform of PAIB to network and get updated on the existing and relevant topics affecting their organisations and the roles they play.
Also to be highlighted at the symposium will be topics relating to corporate governance, Islamic finance, tax management, integrated reporting, updates on developments pertaining to the post International Financial Reporting Standards and other pressing updates on the latest economic and financial issues affecting the profession.
