GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES CONDITIONAL MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (CMCO)

Members are advised that the National Security Council (MKN) has implemented a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for the state of Sabah effective 12 October 2020 – 26 October 2020 and for the state of Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya effective 14 October 2020 – 27 October 2020.

Based on MKN’s announcement, activities in the economic, industrial and trade sectors would be allowed to operate as usual, but under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) as detailed by the National Security Council. For Business and manufacturing sectors including SME’s in the state of Sabah, additional conditions imposed is the need to apply to the Sabah Disaster Management Committee for permission to operate.

Inter-district travel will generally be barred during CMCO. Employees who need to cross district borders for work will need to show their work pass or consent letter from their employer.

MIA appreciates the Government’s efforts to curb further spread of the COVID-19 infection through the CMCO measures and will extend full support on the compliance with the CMCO, while continuing to support our members and stakeholders. During the CMCO, MIA Head Quarters will continue its operations as normal in accordance with the Government’s SOPs. Staff in the Sabah Regional Office will be working from home in compliance with the SOPs in force for the state of Sabah. All other Regional offices will comply and operate according to the requirements set by the respective state authorities.

MIA will continue to closely monitor the situation, maintain close communication with the relevant authorities and our stakeholders, and will notify members of any future developments. MIA would like to advise all members to comply with the CMCO and to practice stringent health SOPs. We would also like to advise all our members who are employers to adhere to the relevant laws and regulations stipulated under the CMCO.
