NACRA 2025 BY BURSA MALAYSIA, MIA & MICPA
KUALA LUMPUR, 13 March 2025 – Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”), the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”) and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“MICPA”) jointly launched the 35th National Annual Corporate Report Awards (“NACRA”) today in a virtual event.
Themed “Towards Accountability & Excellence”, NACRA underscores the vital role annual reports play in propagating transparency and enhancing the integrity of the capital market.
“For those new to NACRA, it is important to note that the NACRA framework and assessment criteria underwent a significant overhaul in 2020. This was in response to a rapidly changing corporate and regulatory landscape, as well as increasing demands from investors for both financial and non-financial information. We also sought to recognise a broader range of leading organisations and align with global reporting frameworks and best practices. A new awards structure was introduced, where organisations compete for Excellence Awards based on market capitalisation for listed companies, and with a separate category for non-listed organisations,” said Mr. Foong Mun Kong, NACRA’s Organising Committee Chairman.
He went on to share, “With the evolving global and local reporting trends, NACRA will continue to adapt its framework to encourage companies in their journey towards the National Sustainability Reporting Framework. The importance of sustainability-related disclosures has led us to emphasise the integration of non-financial metrics alongside financial ones, which align with global developments and local regulations, including Bursa Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen sustainability reporting requirements. In response to this, NACRA continues to promote excellence in sustainability reporting.”
Mr Ong Chee Wai, Chairperson of NACRA’s Adjudication Committee shared in his speech, “As in previous years, the annual or integrated reports submitted for NACRA 2025 will undergo a meticulous review process, led by a distinguished panel of adjudicators appointed by the NACRA 2025 Adjudication Committee. The independent panel of adjudicators are selected from a wide range of sectors, ensuring that their perspectives reflect both diversity and deep expertise in corporate reporting and sustainability disclosures.”
“Let’s remember that the importance of corporate reporting has never been greater. The scrutiny from stakeholders is increasing, and this is our opportunity to continue setting the bar higher for corporate transparency and governance,” added Mr Ong.
After the launch video, Bursa Malaysia Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar in his speech encouraged organisations to participate in NACRA 2025. He said, “By participating in NACRA 2025, companies not only demonstrate their dedication to robust corporate reporting, but also contribute to the collective effort of raising the bar for transparency and accountability across all sectors.” He added, “I urge companies to participate in this prestigious healthy competition, and to encourage their peers to do so as well. NACRA provides both industry leaders as well as emerging companies a visible stage to highlight their strengths in corporate reporting. It is a space to showcase their dedication to best practices, enabling the company to feature their narrative to a wider audience, and uplift their reputation.”
The launch concluded with three NACRA adjudicators sharing insights and pointers on the areas of accounting information, corporate information, and sustainability reporting.
NACRA 2025 is open to all companies incorporated or registered in Malaysia, including both listed and non-listed entities, as well as the public sector and other organisations established in Malaysia. All submissions must be received by Friday, 30 May 2025. Only annual reports with the 2024 financial year-end are eligible for entry to NACRA 2025.

About NACRA
It has been 35 years since the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) was established in 1990 with the main objective of recognising companies’ corporate reporting excellence on a yearly basis. Since its establishment, NACRA has become the benchmark stakeholders associate with fair, transparent and informative corporate reporting, which has always been the underlying objective of its 3 organising bodies – Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
There have been many new value-adding elements incorporated in the annual report over the years, but the objectives of NACRA remain unchanged to echo our theme of ‘Towards Accountability and Excellence’. In 2020, a brand-new framework was announced in response to a vastly transformed corporate and regulatory landscape as well as increasing investor demands for both financial and non-financial information. We also wanted to accord recognition to many more leading organisations and align with global reporting frameworks and best practices. A new awards structure was introduced, where all organisations compete for Excellence Awards according to market capitalisation for listed companies, with a separate category for non-listed organisations.
NACRA 2025 comprises four categories of awards – the Excellence Awards, Best Sustainability Reporting, Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia and Best Designed Annual Report. Each category of the Excellence Awards (except for the Non-listed Organisations) will have a Platinum winner, up to three Gold winners and up to three Silver winners provided the minimum assessment marks are met. The most outstanding Annual Report for the year will receive the Platinum Excellence Award. This Award will be presented to the organisation which displays the highest quality corporate reporting in its annual or integrated report. For Special Awards, i.e. “Best Sustainability Reporting Award”, “Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia” and “Best Designed Annual Report”, each category will have a Platinum, Gold and Silver award. All participating organisations are eligible for the Special Awards.
This year, there will be a physical awards presentation dinner on November 27th where the winners will be announced.
NACRA is open to all companies incorporated or registered in Malaysia as well as the public sector and other organisations established in Malaysia. All submissions must be received by Friday, 30 May 2025. Only annual reports with 2024 financial year end are eligible for entry to NACRA 2025.
