MIA President, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad made a courtesy call on Datuk Ab Rahim Mohd Noor, the Secretary General of Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Malaysia on 6 March 2011.

The visit was organised for the purpose of strengthening the relationship between MoHE and MIA as well as discussing strategic issues concerning the direction of the accountancy discipline offered by the Malaysian institutions of higher learning.

This is so as to be in line with the feedback that MIA had received from the industry and accounting professionals vis-à-vis the several issues needing improvement in order to enhance the quality of the tertiary accounting education in this country.

During the half an hour session, MIA President also took the opportunity to brief Datuk Ab Rahim on the present initiatives undertaken by the Institute with IHLs , Professional Accountancy Bodies as well as industry in promoting sustainable human capital development.

MIA President was accompanied by Ho Foong Moi, MIA Acting CEO; G.Shanmugam, MIA Head of Professional Development Centre; Wan Norehan Wan Ahmad, MIA Head of Education; Rozlisham Abdul Wahab, MIA Head of Corporate and International Affairs and Iszudin Mohd Amin, MIA Head of Communications.

Both Ministry and MIA concur that efforts need to be intensified by all relevant stakeholders to
further propel the accountancy profession forward.
