Datuk Wong Kay Yong
Datuk Wong Kay Yong was appointed as MIA Council member on 15 March 2022.
He is currently the Head, Corporate Surveillance & Governance (CSG), Bursa Malaysia Berhad.
With his unique regulatory and corporate background, at the peak of the 1997/98 financial crisis, he was approached to join the stock exchange of Malaysia, KLSE then, to head its investigation function. Since then, he has spearheaded other regulatory divisions namely market surveillance and listing compliance. The CSG Division monitors and proactively responds to major corporate developments to maintain market integrity. He is also entrusted to formulate and implement measures to enhance corporate governance and sustainability practices amongst corporate Malaysia. Datuk Wong is a key member of the Bursa’s Management Regulatory Committee (MRC). The scope of MRC includes approving Initial Public Offering (IPO) applications and administrating the Listing Requirements. He represents Bursa on Accounting and Auditing matters and liaises extensively with other regulators in the Capital and Financial Markets.
Datuk Wong holds a degree in Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from University of Malaya (UM). He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
