To drive our nation building purpose, MIA actively engages with a large and diverse web of stakeholder groups globally, regionally and domestically. As a result of our engagement and advocacy, MIA is gaining wider recognition as the voice of the accountancy profession, a proponent of sustainable development and protector of the public interest.
International and Regional
MIA’s international outlook and connections are reflected in its membership of regional and international professional organisations like the ASEAN Federation of Accountants and the International Federation of Accountants.
ASEAN Federation of Accountants
The ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) was established in 1977, to serve as the umbrella organisation for the national accountancy bodies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN). MIA is one of the founding member bodies, together with the national accountancy bodies of Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand.
Presently, the AFA membership comprises all 10 ASEAN member countries.

International Federation of Accountants
The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) is the global organisation for the accountancy profession. It is committed to protect the public interest by developing high-quality international standards, promoting strong ethical values, encouraging quality practice and supporting the development of all sectors of the profession worldwide.
As a member of IFAC, MIA abides by IFAC standards to lead, develop and support accountancy professionals and to protect the public interest.
